00:01.100 --> 00:04.980
This is a quick lesson on how to control pauses in narration using Narakeet.

00:06.180 --> 00:13.593
Normally, the the picture for your slides will be synchronised with the voice, so that
once the narration stops, the video moves on to the next slide.

00:14.299 --> 00:19.038
But sometimes you may want to make the narration to stop for a while, and stay on the same slide.

00:19.238 --> 00:22.640
For example, give the viewers a bit of time to think about a question.

00:22.900 --> 00:27.848
To do that, use the pause stage direction, and just set the number of seconds for the narration break.

00:28.095 --> 00:32.434
You can stop the slide there, or even add some more text for the narration after the break.

00:32.695 --> 00:36.007
Remember to leave a blank line above and below the stage direction.

00:36.207 --> 00:38.052
You have five seconds to think

00:43.252 --> 00:45.007
The correct answer is Zero

00:45.695 --> 00:49.426
Sometimes you may want the opposite effect, to avoid any pause at the end.

00:49.626 --> 00:59.762
Narakeet usually creates a small break at the end of each slide, similar to
finishing a paragraph when reading. But if you want to spread a single sentence
across multiple slides, this will sound bad.

01:00.455 --> 01:09.623
In such cases, use the narration mode stage direction, and set it to fragment. This
will tell Narakeet to use a smaller break, akin to pausing between words in a sentence.

01:14.390 --> 01:18.620
You can use the pause stage direction on its own in a slide, without any other text.

01:19.311 --> 01:28.948
Narrakit will ease out the background music during the last slide automatically.
Create a final slide without any text, add a pause, and the background music will
fade out to a soft ending.

01:29.196 --> 01:36.369
You can use a similar trick to bring up the background music volume for the first slide. Create
an introductory slide without just a pause.

01:37.076 --> 01:40.577
Then click the plus next to the background music settings for your video.

01:40.824 --> 01:45.344
You'll see some additional music settings, including a checkbox to ease in the first slide.
